Michael Meyersfeld- The Essential Accessory

Michael Meyersfeld lives and works in Johannesburg. His work would be best described as a social commentary with a strong aesthetic sensibility.

His images are mostly staged.

His images are not rooted in fantasy but rather based on situations that either have occured or could concievably happen, so the staging gives the viewer a sense of reality without the ugliness, shock or negative reactions often seen in real life. It gives him licence to tell the story whilst avoiding the warts and underbelly of reality.

By staging his work he is able to add subtle nuances at a level that is both acceptable and pleasing to the viewe, thereby eliciting a thought process exploring the essence and/or purpose of the images.

This exhibition “Tattoos- The Essential Accesory” is a slight deviation from his norm where fantasy was of the essence to act as a foil to the magic and artistry of the tattoos themselves.

The work is hanging in both Fallen Heroes Red and Fallen Heroes Black and is available for purchase.
