Fallen Heroes was founded by Jen and Thys Uys in 2012, and their journey is a success story in the truest sense. From humble beginnings in a tiny home studio to opening a branch in Colorado USA, to their brand new studio in Blairgowrie, FH houses some of the country’s best and internationally acclaimed tattoo artists.
Every aspect of your experience has been taken into account, from getting to know you and your story all the way through to after care, no detail has been overlooked.
We don’t like to boast, but we did win “The Best of Joburg” in their Best tattoo parlour 2024 category. We also won the “African Excellence Awards for Best Mixed Style Tattoo Studio 2023” – South Africa.
We raise the bar and set the trend and work really hard to maintain our reputation as the best by Google 4.8 out of 500 client reviews.
Fallen Heroes is a custom tattoo studio, but “Fallen Heroes” stands for so much more. We are an extended family, an experience, and a place for those who do not settle for the ordinary.
At Fallen Heroes you can be assured that we will nurture your ideas to create a custom design that has been lovingly etched onto your skin in a warm, comfortable and inclusive environment.
You’re going to have fun here – so come get some!
Dry healing
Wet healing
For either option also do this:
-swimming
-direct sunlight
-pets/animals near the tattoo
-no gyming/exercising
Use sunblock when outdoors and always keep moisturised.
We recommend Easy Tattoo aftercare but also sell Epimax and E45. A glycerine soap is also included in your aftercare pack
DO NOT use SPF whilst the tattoo is still healing. Rather just keep the tattoo out of the sun.
It is OK to take a bath or shower whilst healing but DO NOT SOAK the tattoo in water.
It is advisable NOT to do any sports/ strenuous activity the day after your tattoo.
When exercising during the healing period, make sure to give your tattoo a good wash after any exercise.
IN THE GYM - make sure your tattoo does not come into contact with sweaty benches or machinery.
You can apply an Opsite Flexigrid Plaster if you intend doing anything out of the ordinary, like extreme sports or contact sports, during the healing period. This is available at pharmacies, consult a pharmacist for application.
Please do not use Zambuk or tea tree oil on a healing tattoo.
Alcohol thins the blood - heavy bleeding makes it harder for the artist to work, harder for the ink to stay in, and harder for you to heal. Try your best to stay away from any unnecessary medication that thins the blood before your session (unless of course you have a medical condition)
3. Otherwise, come relaxed. Some people like to have something to read, or keep themselves busy with where possible
Yes it is and we sell the best numbing cream! The cream will need to be applied 45-60 minutes prior to the tattoo to be effective. So make a plan to arrive earlier so you can optimise your booked time.
Your tattoo will generally take about 2 months to heal up completely.
If in this time the colour seems dull - it may just be because a thin layer of skin will form over the tattoo until it is healed - making the colour appear lighter than it should. If after 2 months this is still the case - you may require a touch up.
Infection can be characterized by swelling or redness on or around the tattoo.
If you suspect you have a mild infection (which can be caused by sensitive skin, sweat, irritation, over caring or under caring) come by and let us have a look - something that looks suspect to you may very well be quite normal - like minor scabbing. We can gauge whether you need to seek medical attention or whether you are healing normally. Please do not be afraid to ask and do not leave it too long
If you follow a careful after-care regime you should not scab too much - if you think your scabs are too thick - come by so we can have a look and advise.
Itching is normal, try not to scratch.
Making sure the stencil is the right size and right place does sometimes take a bit of time. It is therefore essential that you are well prepared during the design process and know exactly what you want, how big you want it and where you want it. Especially on the first day of a multiple bookings project.
Please note that your booking includes a setup time and stencil time of 30 minutes which is charged for. This can take longer in certain instances.
No appointments will be made outside of regular store operating hours.
Consultations are free of charge and usually last no longer than 30 minutes. This is a dedicated space for you and the artist to brainstorm your ideas - so bring along references and inspiration. Here we can also see how long the tattoo will take and give you an estimated costing. Please note that these are an estimate. Factors such as detail, design changes and how you sit for your tattoo on the day WILL affect how long the tattoo takes and this will shorten or lengthen your tattoo time and thus your cost.
To secure your booking we charge a 50% deposit or a R2000 deposit (for full days). Should a design be required this will only happen if a secured booking is in place. Even then, you may only see your design on the day, unless otherwise agreed upon with your artist. This deposit will be deducted off the final cost of your tattoo. In essence, if you get the tattoo done with us - your design is free. If however, you change your mind about what you want to get done - a design fee will apply, and will be deducted off your deposit refund.
A deposit must be paid within 24 hours of making your booking or your booking may automatically be released.
If you fail to postpone or cancel your appointment within 48 hours of your booking (I.E two WORKING days), you will unfortunately forfeit your deposit.
(Working hours - Mon-Fri 08:00 - 17:00 Saturdays and Public holidays by appointment only).
If previously discussed, the artist may design a line drawing or mock up. The artist will prep a design or mock up for the day of your booking based on what you have discussed at the consultation. Any small changes will be done on the morning of your tattoo with your artist. After many years of trial and error, we have found that changes with the client face to face is quicker and more efficient.
In the instance that your artist does send out a design, we usually offer 2 rounds of changes on the design.
Please note - We do NOT copy other tattoos. This is considered as plagiarism in our studio and we will not under any circumstance consider this.
If you change your mind about the tattoo and want something else designed - a design fee will apply.
If you have booked a full day and you change your mind to a substantially smaller or quicker piece, you will be charged 50% of the full day booked

We offer one round of free touch ups for your tattoo, should your tattoo require it. You have 6 months from the date of your tattoo for your touch up - so make sure you book well in advance.
You DO however, need to wait at least 1 month for the tattoo to settle, before you will know whether you need a touch up. If you are not sure then - you are more than welcome to pop in so we can have a look.
No free touch ups will be done on hand and feet tattoos. These kinds of tattoos are notorious for the ink pulling out and sadly there are no guarantees that these will last.
Yes, yes there are.
A 5% fee will be charged on deposit refunds, where a client changes their mind on the appointment.
